Tour Overview

Aphrodisias is one of the oldest sacred sites in Turkey. First dedicated to the ancient Mother Goddess and then the Greek Goddess Aphrodite, it was the site of magnificent Temple of Aphrodite and the home of a famous marble sculpture school whose marble products were renown in the Roman World.

Today, the Temple of Aphrodite is partially restored, and it is not hard to imagine it in its gloryThe Aphrodisias site also offers visitors ruins of a large theatre, a stadium and a museum, to name just a few.

The trip to Aphrodisias is worth it just to see the picturesque setting of this site which is situated among fertile fields.

09:15 Pick up from Karahayit hotels

09:30 Pick up from Pammukkale hotels and start our drive (pproximately 1.5 hours) to Aphrodisias

Aphrodisias Tour including:

• The Tetrapylon – a beautiful gateway which greeted pilgrims when they approached the Temple of Aphrodite; The Stadium – which is one of the best preserved in the World and was specially designed for athletic events;
• The Temple of Aphrodite, which was later tumed into a Christian Basilica;
• The Bouleterion (council chambers) which resembles a small theatre and was used for musical concerts as well as council meetings;
• The North Agora – the public square;
• The Hadrian Baths;
• The Theatre, dating back to 27 BC and later modified by the Romans for gladiatorial combat; the Sebasteion, the Temple of Emperors, famous for its life-size bas-reliefs.

We conclude the tour with a visit to the Aphrodisias Museum which displays some of Aphrodisiasfamous marble sculptures as well as the statue of Aphrodite that stood in the temple.
